Time management
Okay people, its time to WAKE UP. We are almost approaching the end of February and it won't be long before the June AS Exams. So more time should be spent on reading and revising as well as more practice in analyzing and writing sociology essays.

How to write a conclusion
It is very important to write conclusions for any essay question that you are answering. This is because to get the best result your essay needs to be COMPLETE, so without a conclusion you are not showing sufficient skills in evaluating your arguments.
In writing a conclusion, it is important for you to SUMMARIZE your main ideas. Basically, briefly mention what are the main points you have written in your essay. For example, if you wrote about Functionalist and Marxist arguments then you should state these in your conclusion.
It is best to stay NEUTRAL at the end of your essay and to avoid saying that one perspective or method is better than the other. For example, 'although quantitative methods are very useful they also have their drawbacks so it is important to consider the use of qualitative methods...'

Using Mind Maps
Mind Maps are very useful for revision as they allow you to clearly identify what are the main topics/points that you need to remember.
Mind Maps will also improve your understanding as you can find out how one topic can be linked to another.
So try creating Mind Maps in preparation for tests/exams as you can also use them to evaluate whether or not you have done enough reading i.e. covered all the main ideas needed to successfully answer all the questions in the exam.
